Introducing… Me!

Hi Everyone!

My name is Kirsten Olson and I am so excited to share my very first blog post with you guys! To start this post off  I wanted to share a little bit about who I am and why I decided to start my blog Faithful Homemaking.

I am a 22-year-old female living in Calgary, AB Canada.  I am a follower of Christ, a hairstylist, lover of coffee, wine, quotes, animals, plants, movies and so much more that I’m sure I’ll be sharing with you guys in the future!

I grew up in a Christian home and went to private schools my entire life. Although I accepted Christ into my life at the young age of 7 it really hasn’t been until the last 4 years where I’ve truly started to develop my relationship with Christ. After graduating and getting out the bubble I lived in for so long, I found myself digging deeper and asking why I believed what I did. I full heatedly believe that I have been saved by the blood of Jesus and that he was sent here to earth to die so that we could spend an eternity with God in Heaven. How amazing is that! I am so glad I decided rediscover my faith in the most recent years because I know God used his timing to bring my husband into my life. In July 2015 I married my best friend and partner in crime…. Taylor!

A little back story on the two of us. We’ve know each other since I was 2 years old! Our families grew up going to the same Church here in Calgary and our parents became best friends and so did the girls in each of our families. We were never interested in each other growing up (honestly he made me nervous being around him!) and I always thought of him as my friends older brother. It wasn’t until 2013 that my sister suggested the idea of going out with each other that I really started to see the potential. After a year and a bit of dating and an 11 month engagement we were married on July 18th, 2015!

A few weeks later in August 2015 we adopted a very special member into our family.

Meet Bosef Alexander Olson ( Bo for short!)

We adopted Bo when he was just 9 months old from EJ Rescue in Airdrie, AB and he was the perfect first addition to the family! He is so full of energy and super friendly (sometimes a little to friendly!) and he always needs lots of attention and cuddles. Although he can be a handful most days we can’t imagine our family with out our Bo!

Shortly after adopting Bo we found that he was going to be the perfect training resource for having something small and needy around our house because…

Baby Olson was on its way arriving May 2016!

We could not be more thrilled to expand our family once again! Tay and I always wanted to start a family shortly after getting married because we liked the idea of being young parents and in a sense ” growing up” with our kids.

On May 17th, 2016 at 10:43 we welcomed our precious Adelynn Mae Olson to the world!

Our sweet girl has changed our lives forever! She is so full of joy and we praise God for blessing us to be her parents. She has been the perfect baby! She rarely cries, is content with whoever holds her, loves to be around noise (she even falls asleep front row at church during worship!). She smiles at everyone even if she is not familiar with them and she loves her big brother Bo! We can’t believe that she is already 6 months old!

Why I Started Faithful Homemaking

My life has changed drastically in the last few years. First becoming a wife and shortly after becoming a mother. It’s been the greatest adventure so far and I know it is only the beginning for my family and me! I thought that by creating a blog it would be a great way to build a community with other woman who are in similar stages of their life and possible walk with Christ. It is my hope and prayer for this blog that I would be able to reach out to someone and make a difference in their life. Whether it’s through a word of encouragement, sharing scripture, or a funny motherhood moment.

I am so excited to start this new journey with all of you!
